Ways to Get Involved

Here are just a few of the ways you can volunteer and help us save tiny lives:

Executive Director/Co-Executive Director

Oversee day-to-day operations and manage volunteers.

Marketing and Grant Writing

Help with marketing, fundraising, and grants.

General Volunteer

Help with administrative duties, supply delivery, events, and more.

At this time, Little Orphans Kitten Rescue is in dire need of an Executive Director. In 2025, our founder and longtime Executive Director, Nancy Hancock, had to take a step back due to her career and family obligations. This means that LOKR has no one to manage our foster program and we unable to support the number of fosters and adoptions that we once did. We are currently only taking in a very limited number of kittens with a very limited number of experienced fosters.

Due to our limitations, the board made the decision to pivot the organization to focus more on providing support to the finders of orphaned kittens. We are in the process of developing our new “Stork Project,” which will provide supplies and educational materials to finders in the form of a kit. The “Stork Kits” will be available at select veterinary clinics in Louisville, KY by the summer of 2026.

If you are interested in becoming a foster, we suggest you volunteer with the Louisville Humane Society, at least until we are able to find a new Executive Director who can manage our foster program once again.
